Waltrip Jazz 1 Wins National Contest

Jazz Ensemble 1 was announced as the winner in a National Contest to "Play with Mintzer" sponsored by Eastman Music. This contest had over 30 submissions from all over our country and Canada, and we were announced as the winners. Due to closings from the latest pandemic, we will have to wait and look forward to performing a concert next school year with Grammy Award Winner Bob Mintzer. We are very excited and can't wait for the opportunity.

14th Annual Jazz@1900

Check out our 14th Annual Jazz@1900 Music Festival, with a full day of 27 jazz ensembles from across the state of Texas competing. The day starts at 9:00 AM and is FREE and open to the public! Come check out some of the best Middle & High School Jazz Ensembles!

The Festival ends with the Awards and Concert, opening up with the Sam Houston State University Jazz Ensemble. The featured headliner of the concert is trombonist Vincent Gardner from the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra & the Artistic Director for Jazz
